About the Event

Fidelity or Real Time: Why Simpack Models Don't Require the Trade-off

The usual fix for a multibody model that's too slow for real time is to strip it down: fewer bodies, linearized bushings, pre-computed lookup tables, then hope the simplified version still behaves like the original. Simpack's recursive, relative-coordinate formulation produces ordinary differential equations (ODEs) instead of the differential-algebraic equations (DAEs) most multibody tools generate. That means lower computational cost per step, no constraint stabilization, and solver structures built for the fixed-step integrators used in hardware-in-the-loop environments. The same full, validated model you trust offline runs in real time, without reduction.

Webinar Scope

In this webinar, 12Simulate will show how the Simpack Realtime module delivers submillisecond real-time performance for complex multibody models (including dynamic bushings, flexible bodies, and nonlinear force elements) with no model reduction, no code generation or compilation, and no target-specific export. Participants will see why Simpack's formulation makes this possible, how a model moves from desktop to real-time hardware and motion platforms, and how it integrates with HIL, SIL, and driver-in-the-loop toolchains.

Topics Covered

  • Why most multibody models are too slow for real time, and why Simpack is the exception

  • Simpack's recursive, relative-coordinate formulation: ODEs instead of DAEs, and what that buys you

  • Running the same validated model in real time: no model reduction, no lookup tables, no code export or compile

  • The Simpack Realtime module: submillisecond performance for complex models

  • Keeping full fidelity in real time: dynamic bushings, flexible bodies, and nonlinear force elements

  • Deploying to HIL, SIL, and driver-in-the-loop / motion-platform environments

  • Integrating plant models with real-time toolchains (Simulink, FMU-based co-simulation)

Who Should Attend?

  • Multibody engineers preparing models for hardware- or driver-in-the-loop testing

  • Teams building real-time driving simulators or motion-platform environments

  • Engineers who currently reduce or surrogate models to hit real time, and want to stop

  • Controls and systems engineers integrating plant models into SIL/HIL toolchains

  • Anyone who assumed real time means giving up model fidelity
